Brief artistic bio (required for Faculty, Guest Artists and Subs):: Edward Rice, originally from the suburbs of Chicago, started dancing as a child and received his early training from The School for Saltcreek Ballet, Lyons Township High School, and Jo’s Footwork Studio. He holds a B.S. in Performance from Illinois State University and a M.F.A. in Dance Performance from the University of Iowa where his was a recipient of the Iowa Arts Fellowship. His choreography has received honors at American College Dance Festival Association conferences and has been performed through out the Mid-West. His work has most recently been presented at Dixon Place and at the Wild Project as part of Synethisia by Electric Pear Productions. He has had the pleasure of dancing with Jennifer Kayle + Company, the Brian Brooks Moving Company, Stone Depot Dance Lab, Jody Obeferelder Dance Projects, and Benjamin Rasmussen. He is so happy to be doing his first project with Alexandra Beller/Dances. In his other life he is the Technical Director at Dance New Amsterdam.

Production Apprenticeship

Apprentices fulfill crew responsibilities for productions in the DNA Theater. This includes but is not limited to the following: Changing the theater from classroom to theater orientation daily, operating sound and light boards, hanging and focusing lights, laying dance floors, moving scenery and props, operating rigging, performing as stage manager, and cleaning/maintaining the theater.
