About Me:

I am a dancer/choreographer who lives in Brooklyn.

Brief artistic bio (required for Faculty, Guest Artists and Subs):

Leanne Schmidt, a native of Buffalo N.Y., has presented work throughout New York City at venues including Triskelion Arts, Dance New Amsterdam, chashama, Dixon Place, and WAX. In addition to New York City, her choreography has also been seen in Phoenix, Buffalo, Washington, D.C. and on Martha’s Vineyard. Leanne has received commissions from Kent State University (OH) and Happendance professional company (MI), has been a guest teacher at University at Buffalo and SUNY College at Brockport and has recenyly developed and conducted a choreographic/creative writing workshop at the New York Public Library’s Harlem and Aguilar Language Learning Centers. Leanne holds a BFA in Dance from SUNY College at Brockport and a MFA in Dance from Arizona State University. Leanne founded Leanne Schmidt and Company in January 2006 whose mission is to present dance that is human, vulnerable and accessible. She has collaborated with visual artist Kate Fauvell on the live visual performance installation, 8PM, and currently with The New Alt Performance Group in Buffalo, NY.
