About Me:
Dance artist, educator, singer, student of life, always up for a laugh, music that makes me feel and some good chow!
Brief artistic bio (required for Faculty, Guest Artists and Subs):
Teresa (Te) Perez, a native New Yorker, has always been involved in some form of music, dance or theatre as a child and has formally been teaching dance/movement since the age of 17. Te holds a BA in Theatre/Dance and certifications in Anatomy of movement (Irene Dowd), Pilates, Gyrotonic & Gyrokinesis, Yoga, and Touch for Health. She received her Simonson Modern jazz certification 11 years ago, became Simonson faculty at Dance Space (now known as Dance New Amsterdam) in 1999, and is now proudly teaching alongside Lynn Simonson with the Teacher’s Certification Course in New York City. Other mentors that have made a powerful impact on Te’s growth as a dance artist include, Susan Matthews, Suchi Branfman, Kristin Jackson, Rachel List, Diane McCarthy, Katiti King and, the incredible, Sara Neece.
Te has been a member of various independent companies in NYC such as Spoke the Hub Dance, Koshin Dance Theater, Yin Mei Dance Company, and Silver-Brown Dance Theater, among others. She has also danced in works by David Storey, Lynn Simonson, Diane McCarthy, Jason McDole, and Katiti King. In addition, Te has her own collection of choreographic works which she has presented in venues such as The Evolving Arts Theater, Galapagos Art Space, Williamsburg Arts Nexus, Joyce Soho, Kasser Theater at Montclair State and The Little Theater at Queens College.
Presently, Te teaches on faculty at Dance New Amsterdam, Queens College, Hofstra University and at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. As guest faculty, she has taught at Barnard College, Montclair State University, and the University of Tennessee. Her international teaching credentials include master classes and workshops in Canada, Holland and Spain, and nationally in Texas, Montana, Connecticut, New Jersey and Tennessee. Te’s choreographic commissions are for independent companies, universities, workshops and concerts. In addition, this summer she has been invited to teach and choreograph in Edinburgh, Scotland, again in Spain, at The Bates Dance Festival in Maine, as well as, an annual Simonson workshop that she instructs in Quebec City.

Any other information that you want to share:
Due to a very exciting and active teaching schedule this Summer 2008, Te leaves for Europe on Tuesday, May 13th and will not return to teach her classes until sometime in mid/late August. A schedule update will be posted...HAVE A FANTASTIC SUMMER! HEALTH & LOVE TO ALL! :- )

Independent Film Company is looking for a female Dancer / Choreographer to be a part of a web reality series like the MTV's "Making The Band" exploring the "Behind -The -Scenes" of the road to success of several female entertainers trying to make it in the industry. We are looking for an exotic looking female dancer who is capable of working with 2 other female dancers and putting together a choreographed number to a recorded track to be performed at the filming of the first episode of the series. Audition is on MONDAY / TUESDAY April 20-21. Details will be emailed to you.
