Brief artistic bio (required for Faculty, Guest Artists and Subs):
REBECCA BURTON
Rebecca, aka Bex, is a creative hybrid, having worked in various forms of movement including dance, video and fabric. In 2000, after a 7-year hiatus from dance, Pilates offered a doorway to return to movement. She has been doing Pilates and dancing since, and in 2006, she defected from the corporate world to pursue a full-time life in motion.
She received her Pilates Mat certification through Dance New Amsterdam under the instruction of Teri Steele, and currently holds a faculty position at DNA teaching Pilates Mat. She completed her apparatus certification through Half Moon Pilates with Lawson Harris, and continues to train with HMP in Dumbo. She has had the unique opportunity to study with both Kathy Stanford-Grant and Lolita San Miguel, two of Joseph Pilates direct students, as well as Master Teacher Kathy Corey.
Burton offers clients anatomical cues enhanced by descriptive imagery and motivational coaching, delivering quality and precise workouts while bolstering perceptions of personal abilities.
When she is not teaching or doing Pilates, she is hula hooping or turning cartwheels.
